We are looking forward to seeing you in August!
The Camp Mar-Ven Reunion Committee
A Camp Mar-Ven Reunion is being planned for August or September of 2011 in Wellfleet.
Thanks to Elise Hoffman email@example.com and Sue Hirsh firstname.lastname@example.org, who are spearheading the committee.
They are currently looking at locations and other details for this long-awaited event. They would like to hear from people interested in attending.
The Wellfleet Historical Society is on board with a special exhibition of Camp memorabilia and photos.
Pass the word along to everyone you can think of, and stay tuned. Details and photos will be posted here as they become available.
We have located almost all of the yearbooks, but are missing 1961 and 1972. If you have either one of these that we could copy, please let Sue know.
We would like to reach as many former Camp Mar-Ven campers and staff as possible. The best way to do this is for you to forward this to everyone you know how to contact - either by e-mail or snail mail. Everyone is encouraged to contact either Elise Hoffman at email@example.com or 978-623-9944 or Sue Hirsh at firstname.lastname@example.org or 978-335-0401.
In order to make the reunion happen, we will need to make deposits to secure our date and location. We are asking that all who plan to attend to please send an initial deposit of $20.00 per person to Elise B. Hoffman, One Elm Square, Andover, MA 01810 by January 31, 2011. Please include your contact information including e-mail address and a phone number so that we can keep you informed as we make progress in the planning.
Additional reunion registration forms will be sent out at a later date. We are thrilled with the enthusiasm we have received for a Camp Mar-Ven Reunion! Save the date of August 27, 2011 in Wellfleet. A Saturday Night Social cocktails and dinner event will be held at the Wellfleet Preservation Hall at 335 Main Street. Some of the other ideas and planned events so far include: viewing pictures and yearbooks at the Wellfleet Historical Society, a tour of Camp landmarks, a Camp Mar-ven Reunion T-shirt, and getting together for brunch on Sunday, August 28.
While planning our reunion, we considered those who observe the Sabbath so that the event would be able to accommodate all who wish to attend. Both the Wellfleet Historical Society where we plan a morning of looking at Mar-Ven photos and memorabilia and Preservation Hall where we will have dinner are located right in the downtown area. If one arrives on Friday and stays at one of the various lodgings in town they are both in walking distance. In addition, we will not serve any pork or shellfish and plan to offer a vegetarian selection for those who keep kosher. The CMV reunion committee hopes that these arrangements will make it possible for Sabbath observant folks to come. We would appreciate anyone who observes Sabbath to let us know so we can have an idea of how many people.
If you haven't already, log on to the CampMarven.com site and Camp Mar-Ven group on Facebook. We have located almost all of the yearbooks, but are missing 1961 and 1972. If you have either one of these that we could copy, please let Sue know.
